It’s very rare nowadays that you get a signing that unites a fanbase.
Indeed, you only have to take a look at the transfer business that Arsenal are currently undertaking and assess the reaction to it, to see that it is tough to satisfy everyone.
The imminent arrival of Stephen Lichtsteiner has divided opinion, with some seeing it as a good move to bring someone in with such top level experience to compete with Hector Bellerin next season.

But on the other hand there are plenty who see it as a cheap, Mikael Silvestre type move for a 34-year-old who is past his best and probably coming in for one last big pay day.
The same goes for Sokratis. A centre-back who should be hitting his peak and will join from one of Europe’s top clubs, but who again will arrive with plenty of sceptics saying he is hardly an improvement on what Arsenal already have.
It’s very hard to satisfy everyone, especially in the days of social media. But as news broke late on Wednesday night that Arsenal were set to land 17-year-old Yacine Adli from Paris Saint-Germain, the overwhelming response was one of genuine excitement – which is perhaps slightly amusing as the majority, myself included, would have never really seen him play.
