One of the biggest surprises in the NCAA last season was the Louisville Cardinals. Though they finished 10-4, Louisville surprised many by winding up in the ACC title game and being ranked as high as #10 in the country with wins against Notre Dame and Miami. The backfield tandem of Jawhar Jordan and Isaac Guerendo led the Cardinals. Jordan led the team in rushing, running for over 1,000 yards. Still, Guerendo has garnered attention for himself after running for 11 touchdowns last season and showing off impressive physical measurements at 6’, 220 lbs. and running a 4.33 at the NFL scouting combine. That size and speed have captured the attention of draftniks to further assess the intriguing prospect.Like his backfield partner, Guerendo is viewed as a mid-late-round prospect with upside that can be developed into a bit player as part of a committee. He can also provide assistance as a kick returner on special occasions. If selected by the Dallas Cowboys, don’t expect Guerendo to earn playing time early on. His primary objective will be to compete with Deuce Vaughn to occupy a spot behind Rico Dowdle on the depth chart. With that in mind, here’s what the film says about the speedy Louisville Cardinal running back.
