Working Together: Two Familiar Faces Take the Helm of MTU’s Student Affairs Division
Michigan Technological University (MTU) recently announced the appointment of two seasoned professionals to lead its Student Affairs Division, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to supporting the well-being and success of students. Dr. Jane Doe and Dr. John Smith, both familiar figures within the MTU community, are stepping into new leadership roles as co-directors of Student Affairs, aiming to enhance the university’s mission of fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.
Dr. Doe, who has been with MTU for over a decade, previously served as the Director of Counseling Services. Her deep understanding of student mental health and well-being positions her well to oversee a comprehensive approach to student support services. Dr. Smith, a long-time faculty member in the Department of Student Development, brings extensive experience in student leadership, programming, and engagement. His collaborative work across various departments has earned him a reputation as a strong advocate for student success and inclusion.
Together, they plan to build on MTU’s tradition of excellence by improving student services, enhancing community engagement, and ensuring resources are accessible for all students. They emphasize the importance of collaboration across departments, believing that a holistic approach to student development is key to fostering a thriving academic and social community.
In their joint statement, Dr. Doe and Dr. Smith expressed excitement about the opportunity to serve in this new capacity. “We are committed to continuing MTU’s legacy of providing students with the tools they need to succeed—not only academically but personally, socially, and professionally,” they said.
With these two dedicated leaders at the helm, MTU’s Student Affairs Division is poised for continued growth and innovation, ensuring that students receive the support they need to excel both in and out of the classroom.
